Suzy Sweater
The split back ‘Suzy’ sweater was designed in block colours of mustard, pink and off-white to highlight my passion for slow fashion and sustainability.
‘Suzy’ is made from Falkland Aran by Debbie Bliss: a natural organic merino fibre which is ecologically farmed in the Falkland Islands before being spun in Yorkshire.
Wherever possible I use natural fibres for my work, after becoming aware of the negative impact of synthetic materials and harmful chemicals on the environment.
Slow Fashion
The Suzy was showcased at ‘The Slow Fashion Show’ organised by Kalkidan Legesse, social entrepreneur and managing director of Sancho’s, in Exeter, in 2019.
One big part of the fast fashion issue which I hoped to highlight through participating in the Slow Fashion Show is the skill of crochet.
